Leaders Weekly Spotlight: Joshua Sacal – Leading with Passion, Humility, and Purpose
In the stillness of the pandemic, when the world slowed down, Joshua Sacal found a small spark—his love for editing and design. What seemed like a simple passion soon grew into something bigger. That spark opened doors to student leadership, where he discovered that leadership is not just about skills, but about serving others. Guided by his mother’s gentle reminder to always remain humble, Joshua stepped forward with a heart ready to serve. Joshua describes his leadership in three words: adaptable, resilient, and passionate. These words aren’t just traits—they are the very core of how he faces challenges and celebrates victories. Every step he takes in leadership carries not only his skills, but also his sincerity and courage to make a difference.
A Tapestry of Student Voices
Among his proudest moments was creating JosenianSKL as Secretary of the USJ-R SSC 42nd Congress. More than just a project, it became a safe space where students could share their stories—their struggles, triumphs, and dreams.
“It served as a gateway for empowerment and opportunities,” Joshua reflects. For him, it was never about recognition, but about weaving together voices that strengthened connection and belonging.
Success Redefined
For Joshua, true success in leadership isn’t defined solely by accomplishments.
“It’s about growth,” he reflects. “I measure success by staying focused, continuously adapting to challenges, and learning from every adversity I face. Leadership is about becoming better each day and showing up with commitment and openness to learn.”
To him, leadership is a not about perfection—it’s about commitment, growth, and the courage to serve". If he could go back, Joshua would whisper to his younger self:
“Don’t be afraid to try new things. You may not be able to change everything at once, but you can create meaningful changes in every space you enter. It’s okay not to have everything figured out. What matters is that you grow, learn, and embrace the journey.”
These words, once advice for himself, now stand as encouragement for every young leader finding their way.
A Legacy of Force for Good
Joshua’s journey reminds us that leadership can begin from the smallest sparks of passion and grow into something that touches lives. His story is proof that with humility, resilience, and a heart willing to serve, every young leader has the power to be a Force for Good. For in every humble step taken with purpose, a ripple of hope is created—one that can inspire hearts, uplift communities, and light the way for generations to come.
